Sport Suspension Question

Featured Replies

I have an 2006 Octavia 2.0 FSI Sport which I understand comes with Sports Suspension.

Is this the same suspension that is found on the VRS?

I took my car in the other day to have a 4 wheel alignment check (Hunters machine) as it was drifting to the left when the steering wheel was centered.

Driven a couple of hundred miles and noticed that the car is now drifting to the right when the steering wheel is centered.

Noticed on the Hunters print out that it states:

Skoda: Octavia II (2004 - ): Standard Suspension (2UA): 01/2006 -: Except G07+L06, G07+L19

Noticed in another thread that the VRS Geometry settings are:

Front

Camber 0°41’ ± 0°30’

Caster 7°47’ ± 0°30’

Toe 0°05’ ± 0°05’

Total Toe 0°10’ ± 0°10’

Steer Ahead 0°00’ ± 0°03’

Rear

Camber 1°20’ ± 0°30’

Toe 0°05’ ± 0°05’

Total Toe 0°10’ ± 0°10’

Thrust angle 0°00’ ± 0°20’

I'm thinking that the wrong geometry settings have been applied.

I think its basically the same except the sport suspension has Eibach lowering springs. Shocks and ARB's are the same ( I think )

Please anyone.............a definitive answer on this one is long over due !!

Just need to know if the VRS geometry settings are applicable to the Sports suspension setup.

I can just go back to the garage and tell them to load the VRS settings and then they can make adjustments based on that.

It looks like they've entered my registration number and its loaded the geometry settings for a standard, non sports suspension Octavia.

Anyone?

Bumping this up again.

My dads Fabia has been having drifting to the left for a bit, it still did it after 4WA so the tyre place swapped the tyres from left to right and now the problem has all but gone. The settings you posted look ok, so maybe this is something worth trying (assuming non directional tyre).

Excuse the noob question but why is it not a good idea to apply those VRS geometry settings if you have directional tyres?

I have directional tyres on my Octavia.

Definitively think that the Hunters machine loaded the wrong settings when the Registration number was entered and that the wrong geometry settings have been applied.

Been looking into the Options Codes in my Service Book.

the Standard Suspension (2UA) settings were applied at the garage for the 4WA.

My options code states 2UC, which is Sports Option.

I believe that the the VRS also has a 2UC code.

Could somebody with a VRS confirm that please?

Does anyone know if the Hunters machine displays the geometry settings for the vehicle via car Registration number, or does the operator have to specifically enter the make, model, etc? If its the latter, then it looks like human error to blame and I'm not a happy bunny!

Hi.

I own a skoda octavia RS 2.0 TDI fabrication date 2007.

There were no after-fabric modifications made, it is in original conditions.

I have some complaints which I would like to share.

1. The camber values on the front and the rear axle were setted correctly, and after 8000 km I saw, that the interior side of the running surface of the rear tyres was much more frayed as the exterior side.

I would like to accentuate, that there was no deviation of the camber values.

Shoud this be due to the quality of the tyres? (Brand name: Nokian winter tyres)

If no, what can causes this?

2. Due to the change of the front suspension stabilizer axle the camber values of the front axle were modified and there was a need to adjust it. Earlier, I thought that there is no connection between the suspension and the camber values, but now I am surprised by this fact. It's a habit with me to be near the car during the reparation processes.

Are there others, who observed the same things?

Regards,

Sandor Gabor
