Car arrived......no electric mirrors

Featured Replies

My Elegance, delivered in the first week of Jan, has electric folding mirrors which accords with the sales brochure I was given when I ordered the car.

However, my legal friend informs me you cannot rely on the waffle and puff of sales brochures; you have to quiz the salesman on everything. But even then the salesman is often ignorant of important features and changes to specs - in my case he didn't know that xenon lights need maxi dot to enable euro travel (you find this out when you read and re-read the operator's manual just before leaving for Dover!).

There is another problem with the folding mirrors, they can't be folded in above 10 mph which is useless for me as I drive in narrow country lanes and need to be able to fold them when on coming traffic approaches. This is not mentioned anywhere in literature I have seen. You can fold the mirrors in at any speed on my previous car and on my wife's new Fiesta. According to the ever unhelpful SUK its a safety feature and can't be altered (or they do not know how to change it) so I drive around with them folded in most of the time.

This is not the only change to specifications Skoda UK has sneaked in, last October I ordered an L&K based on the car configurator specification on their web site. It clearly stated the car had two electic front seats when only a drivers electic seat is fitted. All sorts of excuses from SUK such as the web site was run my a third party and therefore not up to date.

So great car, excellent dealer - SUK hopeless. How do they get away with it?

Well they did it with these, with the spare wheel, with other features too and it is really taking the p*ss a bit now.
