DISCS AND PADS front and rear

Featured Replies

hey all

have to get discs and pads front and rear for mk1 vrs Octavia just wondering which ones to get really and I came across sets on vwspares.co.uk Febi Bilstein manufactured. has anyone used these and any ideas on their quality!?

can someone tell me what manufacturer are the stock Octavia ones!?!

I don't want to spend mad money but if there's a good offer anyones come across I'll have a look

thanks in advance

I have found the OE discs & pads to be completely adequate and I do do trackdays. They are all available from GSF or ECP, it's just that they do not come in Skoda boxes but in the manufacturers boxes. Skoda use 2 or 3 different makes. When you order the parts tell them you want OE parts and thats what you get , the cheaper ones are just that, cheap and nasty. I've had no problem with these 2 parts suppliers and they usually ask if you want the OE version or a cheaper version so credit to them.

I am pretty sure Pagid currently manufacture the pads for the Octavia / Mk V golf but someone will correct me if I am wrong. I believe ECE R90 certification on the box means that the pads have to be at least as good as OEM and this is a requirement in Europe if you are looking at aftermarket pads.

Yes, Pagid are one of them, I have their front discs, also Brembo make OE discs and pads, can't think of any others at the moment.

Whats your view on the mintex brake box kit which include discs and pads for £82 plus £8 p and p on ebay- TOO CHEAP?

I've had no experience of Mintex brake parts, ever, so I can't say. Personally I would stick with OE bits. Have a look around our forum and see what others recommend. Also depends on whether you are using the car for track or road or just gentle driving.

Never buy skimp on brakes, it's your safety we are talking about. (it's similar advice about tyres) I would suggest buying Ferodo or Mintex pads or Skoda ones as they are made by Pagid. I now use EBC stuff as they are kinder to discs, produce less dust and suit my driving style.

I've seen Pagid, Textar and Jurid as branded OEM parts

Since Pagid, Mintex and Textar are all part of TMD friction group, then I would think if genuine the correct Mintex parts will be fine.
