Smashed my iPhone screen :(

Featured Replies

Well after 20 months of ownership and abuse the screen finally gave way when dropping it at work. Now I was looking on ebay for a replacement and came across a company that sold the screen and case for £17 and whats more you could choose the colour! I chose green to be a bit different!

Anyway the case has just arrive and the supposid screen but its not the glass panel that I need which is a bit frustrating!

Now I need to get the glass screen of which I've found from another online company but I'm wondering whether it would be better to get an OEM backing in white / black?

So questions being, anyone actually replaced the iPhone screen / backing before? If so is it as hard as it looks?

And also if given the choice if you was buying an iPhone second hand online would you buy it if it had a green case?

Regards,

Touchscreens dont bounce.

It's why I refuse one for my work phone. I drop my N73 several times a day.

My personal one, currently a Hero soon to be a Desire, will be getting a sturdy case.

Insurance was ridiculous when I first bought the iPhone, they wanted more or less my monthly tariff on top!

Case certainly seems like a good idea now :D

Ok - so he's had it 20 months - how much insurance premium would he have paid in that time?

Lets compare it with the repair bill - £17 so far but more to come

I've just purchased the screen with the digitalizer built in for £23 to avoid any big balls ups so quietly confident i'll be able to complete the op successfully when it arrives. Time will tell none the less :p

Nothing. Get the right house policy or bank account and it's free :p

It's all about piece of mind. That and the fact he would have a nice new shiny Iphone right now
