Skoda Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Morning all skoda users!

ive got a vrs mark 1 with re-map. exhuast, panel filter and re-circ dump valve.

It goes like a train but not sure whether to go for a set of uprated ingintion leads i.e split fire / magnacor and also would a turbo intake pipe from say awesome or samco help with pick up?

Im not expecting miracles but ive been told by awesome the intake pipe does help pick up and stop the standard rubber pipe from flexing during higher boost loads!

If anyone can recommend the best place to get deals on either or both these items it would be greak, i can get them fitted for practically nothing.

Got mixed views back from local garage i use and hopefully someone can put me straight... ;)

Thanks for your time.

Si

Hello and welcome to Briskoda

If you post the above in the Octavia I forum someone should be able to help in more detail.

Woah Dave you're quick!

LOL

I've been told that before emoticon-0106-crying.gif

The octy vrs doesnt have ignition leads,it has coil packs, you could upgade the spark plugs but i dont know what/if any gains you would get, mine is standard so i cant offer any advice on tuning but im sure somebody who has will be along soon. :)

Some of the members who have had remaps have found uprated spark plugs (NGK I think it was) work better than the standard ones.

Not sure about the Samco turbo inlet hose they always seem like a lot of money to me for not a lot of gain. I don't believe for one minute your standard inlet hose will collapse, even with a remap, you're not going to be running that kind of boost.

the plugs that people use are either the NGK BKR7E (colder copper plug gapped to .028) or NGK/Denso Iridiums

welcome, yes like karlbar2k said i'm using ngk bkr7e without issue they are a slightly colder plug than standard and work well, much cheaper than the iridiums too!

Yeah when Awesome talk about the turbo intake hoses collapsing they're talking about the old Audi TT ones, which were full length rubber from MAF to comp cover. The vRS has a cast aluminium pipe for the lower portion, where the old ones collapsed, then the short upper rubber hose, which like chicken said would never collapse.

Like others have said, your car doesn't have HT leads. I'd leave the plugs alone unless you've got running problems.

I'd say the next steps would be get a FMIC and get a custom remap. From there it's a bigger turbo if you want any chunky power gains.

Hi

You tend to find that it is the old old 210`s that had issues with the hose collapsing , and there is a video of it on Forge`s web site

The 180`s and 150`s dont tend to have that issue

But the gains that can be had with the T.I.P is better throttle response

Yes not HT leads , as you have coil packs instead

Can I ask , do you have turbo back exhaust with sports cat? as that could help , also stage 2 remap?

Induction kit?

These are all bits that will help a bit
