Rain sensor, is this possible to disable?

Featured Replies

I have no experience on a rain sensor function in my earlier or present car. How does it work in Yeti, I mean where is the rain sensor installed and does it make it's job in all circumstances well?

If I were not satisfied with the rain sensor functionality, is it possible to change the functionality so that it would work the traditional intermittent wiping way where I can set the interval and that I would be the one who decides when the wiper should wipe, not a machine?

The sensor is part of the interior mirror fitting on the back of the windscreen.

You can't disable the function as such but you can adjust the frequency of wipe.

dont worry, its working perfectly..:-)

I too was a sceptic about the rain sensor but it works brilliantly. It does it's own thing but you still have some extra control as jst says by adjusting the intermittent switch setting.

Worry not!

The rain sensor has 4 grade adjustable sensitivity.

The wipers can also be operated in manual mode.

In any mode, they are speed sensitive.

I have been using an auto-rain duphlick for a few years. Then had a car without it - and sorely missed it!

Of all the gizmos you can have this is possibly one of the best - set it , leave it and forget it. The same is true with automatic lights-on systems. My big-ass Megane has both. They work well.

set it , leave it and forget it.

A word of caution though. Be aware that in some instances, if the car windscreen has frozen over and you have the rain sensing wipers on, when you switch on the ignition they will try to operate even though the wipers could be stuck to the screen.

I agree about the lights.

As an aside, I've set my Yeti to show daytime running lights. Anyone else done that?

I have mine on permanently. My only concern is that they are very bright and might be mistaken for the foglights being on.

I remember on my Laguna I had to leave the keyless ignition on when I went through a car wash and the rain sensing wipers would come on.

The auto wipers on Skodas is brilliant. You can turn it off automatic when you are going through car washes but they are excellent and as others have said adjustable to suit your needs.

Good point! About 6 months of the year our windscreens are frozen here in Finland :-) If the wipers were touching the windscreen (e.g over night) when they are frozen, the rubbers will rip off (or the fuse will blow) if the wiper's motor instigate when turning on the ignition ... this comes costly if it happens too many times  :'(
