WTF was that about? RANT - RANT - RANT

I'm heart broken, truely heart broken...

My belief that all Skoda drivers are happy & friendly towards each other... if not everyone, has been completely shattered :'(

Driving to work this morning.. the normal way, the way I've been driving for nearly 3 years I picked up a demon on my tail in a 1.4mpI Fabia Combi.

An older lady.. quite small and gaunt looking.. Wonky Hair cut, sitting on top and off to one side of the wheel.. you know the type.. looks like they're chewing a wasp etc etc (If your on here and it was you.. then PM me an apology and I'll change all of this but at the minute you deserve it)

I pulled out of my road, into a gap plenty big enough, but in front of her. Get 150 foot down the road to the round about where I brake while looking right.. somethings there so I stop.. something caught my eyes behind me.. was that, nooo.. can't have been, she must have knocked the stalk cuz she had no reason to flash,

Go around the round about and continue, Combi's still behind me, a little close but no more than you get sometimes when drivers just don't realise. Then, more flashing.. and this time... we were just driving! I'm doing, ok.. maybe 28 as it's a high street. (30 on my speedo, btw)

At this point, I start thinking "Hmmmm.. maybe her flaser stalk is faulty" lol.. I reeeeally couldn't think what I might be doing to annoy her so much.. bu then, the hand gestures start!

OMG.. Is she really waving her hand around suggesting I could be going faster than 30 in this 30 zone? No really.. is she?

I couldn't believe it.. "Flash, flash, flash, flash.. wave wave wave wave" WTF???

This continues for a little while... and I try to rise above it, but , I'm sorry.. I couldn't help my self.. 1st things 1st.. slow to 20.. It'll let her pass annnnddd **** her off!

Nope, just comes up my tail... still flashing and waving.

Ok, vRS vs 1.4mpI..... 2nd gear, foot down... 20 - 40, then back down to 30. (I'd like to point out, not my normal behavior).. not in a 30zone anyway.

She cought me up though at a round about.. which I looked right at.. this round abouts one of those small ones where only half the people actually signal, and I'm not brilliant at guessing so I stop and gauge it... HA! this reeeeeeaally ****ed her off.. flashing, beeping and hand gestures now!

Luckily the right exit of this round about splits into two lanes straight away for another round about just up fromt it so she went right and I went left.. she pipped me with her classic spec horn.. I honk back much louder with the vRS's duo tome unit.. I knew it had a speced up horn for a reason.. 2 fabias in a horn off.. I totally won.. lol!

I'm left not really knowing what just happened but utterly disillusioned it was another Fabia!

Was my first real sense of road rage (driving 4 years) I mean I've been flashsed before.. but I've always known why and learnt from it.. I'm talking in my 1st year on the road..

but this, I dunno.. lol I feel violated somehow by the old hag!

oh well, It's all road experiance I guess, next time i'll pull over and let her speed into a dangourus round about if she likes doing that kinda thing.. in her Fabia :'( :dull:

Personally i think you did well. Normally when i get people doing this behind me i gradually slow them down till were doing a few miles per hour, they try and overtake and you boot it. I don't condone my behaviour but people who try and pressure you into doing more than 30 in a 30 need slapping. You did really well to keep your cool, i'd of probably got out the car and given her a proper mouthful !!

pointless quote

2 fabias in a horn off.. I totally won.. lol!

This is one of the funniest posts I've read in a while! Thanks for making my morning a bit brighter as I was feeling quite bereft (my brother had eaten all of the Warburtons hot cross bun loaf).

I hate the people who when you pull out of a junction and they're miles away from you travelling at the speed limit, you make the turn out onto the main road and then suddenly they're gaining on you at great velocity like the truck in 'Duel' and then they brake sharply just before they nudge your rear bumper but remain right up your ass mouthing obscenities just to make the point that you might have pulled out of the junction a bit late when you actually hadn't. Larry Lurch Ups, I like to call them.

Peace out bro.

I believe you will find no matter what she drives, she is mental and shouldn't have her driving licence.

The ones I really hate are the ones that do actually pull out very late, you use the horn and they give you the finger or start stamping on the brakes as if you've done something wrong to them.

Let the mis-quote machine being

but this, I dunno... I violated the old hag!

No wonder she was upset !! :giggle:

Unfortunately Rob owning a Skoda isn't a prerequisite of being happy or a good driver. The **** and out of order pop up in all vehicles if you spend enough time on the road.

Even more so if you commute with BM's and those cars with 4 rings on the front

You kind of have to let people do what they want and let it go - as difficult as it can be to stay cool some times (just ask my road rage suffering other half)

You know you hadn't done, and weren't doing, anything wrong so her actions were completely unjustified so no point getting worked up.

She was clearly a loon!

Of course though had you considered that itmight just be a case of VRS jealousy?? B)

or on her period? lol

Naaaa, way past that time of her life..

I'm fine now, lol.. Further on my way to work I clocked another Fabia with a happy smiley lady behind the wheel..

It was just one of those strange times where I was far more confused then angry.. :)

wouldnt happen in yorkshire ;)

I know, donkey's and carts don't have headlights to flash :)

Ah well, she'll be dead soon.

I just slow down, and slow down, and don't worry about the speeding up bit.

Get over it. There's lots of nutters out there and many have driving licences too.

I know, donkey's and carts don't have headlights to flash :)

Or horns though I suppose they could eyore angrily

More likely she took exception to being smogged when you floored it :giggle:

Full Colostimy bag?

'Hurry up it smells of **** in here!'

Ah well, she'll be dead soon.

I just slow down, and slow down, and don't worry about the speeding up bit.

have to say that is pretty much my attatude to it aswel babs!

maybe its tuesday OAP morning and she was rushing to get to it in time? Where in Middlesex did this happen sounds like the old lady that used to come down my road (well last time I spoke her she had just taken rear of my car out just outside my house!) maybe she has now got a skoda?

Have to say I always find it funny being on the end of an old person in full road rage...................cant help but laugh everytime...............which probably doesn't help :giggle:

lol :)

You really p*ssed her off! :D

I had a similar event in work van, there was a middle aged chap who thought I should have stopped to let him through a gap when I was half way through it... told him I had a sort of right of way and then he asked me to jump out and sort it out...

I carry around lots of heavy duty work tools and so out popped the 3ft crowbar, he drove off

Ah well, she'll be dead soon.

I just slow down, and slow down, and don't worry about the speeding up bit.

She'll be wrapped around the ar$e of an artic before she knows it with any luck.

I'm the same as you Babs. Fook 'em I say.

There once was this time when I was at a set of lights. Single lane, me at the front waiting to go..

Because I had the gall to release my handbrake before I pulled away at green.

the young cocky baseball capped bell end in the Fiesta behind decided that was too much

of a delay for him to endure... :dull:

( Couldn'thave been a day over 19 the jumped up little plick.)

To be fair it was a whole two seconds.... :D :D :D

Then the light flashing and beeping and mouthing off with lots of hand waving began.

(Lights still green....) I calmly put hand brake back on and got out of the car...

Then, using my best acting skills I walked round the back of the car, got down on my belly

and proceeded to crawl under the rear of the car...

Lights still green and he' s sitting there going BERSERK!!! inside the car. Lights change red again... :D

Crawl back out and turn to face Mr impatient give him the biggest smile I can, a BIG double thumbs up...

Clearly mouth "Thanks Mate" to him, Got back in the cart, lights still red... Matey boy in the mirror

just looks confused but his nuts seem to have shrunk a bit... lol

Lights change again and I decide that on this day and this single lane road twentys plenty...

So away I poodle... As soon as he got his chance, he went round me like a bat out of hell but

thiis was my old Bora and it wasn't that fast TBH so I couldn't toy with him any more....

In my experience bell ends are to be found driving anything with wheels...

They're everywhere!!!

wouldnt happen in yorkshire ;)

Dont be too sure matey lol.

I nearly got sideswiped by a old man driving through the red light on the B&Q Roundabout in Rotherham.

If the car to the right of me hadn't have slowed rapidly, and made me wonder what the hell was going off. I'd have been a bonnet ornament for a Corsa :(

I find it amazing the amount of people that keep sitting on my back bumper coming out of Sheffield. The other week i had a Ford Focus Hardtop Convertible stuck that close to me i was affraid to use the brakes.

The same week i had some woman in a clio doing the same, even slowing down she was still there. Even after nipping the brakes hard as i came to a stop and seeing her panic. I just dont get it :S

id of got out and punched her

We would all like to do that, but in this day and age, we have to take care in our actions.........

That was a good read - brightened up an interesting lecture for me!

I find it amazing the amount of people that keep sitting on my back bumper . . . .

I used to get this all the time in the Fabia, even when doing the speed limit. I've just come to assume they were jealous of the beauty of my Fabia estate and wanted a better look!

Now it's just people constantly under cutting me and trying to race off the lights.

I like your post and i'd say considering what you had to put up with you remained calm. A lot of drivers would probably tried to get out and belt her one.

As I read your post a big a smile came upon my face as I read the part where you "put your foot down"

I have no idea why she was flashing you but it seems totally unreasonable. She clearly didn't realise that her 1.4 Vs your Vrs isn't going to win her any awards.

Hopefully she'll upset one too many people and end up paying for it.Perhaps with her life if that is her wish.Hopefully nobody elses.

you did nothing wrong pal some people just make somthing out of absolutely nothing and then some people do bizzare things for no reason!

i pulled onto a single carrigeway near me late at night (proberly 1am ish) and catch upto two cars. one is sat right up the backside of the other one, the lead car has thier rear fog's on. the road turns to dual carrageway and they stick to 60 so i overtake. as i get alongside i notice the rear car has thier main beam on and are sat right on the back on the other person. :wonder:

as i get past the rear car pulls out an sticks to my boot! main beams on again! there must have been 2 meters between us. i think 'right!' and put my fogs on, and speed up - they do the same. my thoughts? 'what a ****!!'

i then throttle off and let the car coast back to 60. their still on my boot. i then jab my brakes - nothing! now im getting pi$$ed off and rather tired of being blinded!

i brake heavily down to 25mph and go for about a minute at this (on a dual carrageway!!!!!) and they stay on my boot. now im really really pi$$ed. by this time the other car (only other vehicle on the road) they had been on before me passes us and they overtake and continue hugging thier bumper. i overtake and stay on that physcos bumper till i pull off afew hundred meters down the road.

now i am a rather safe driver but they really did make me mad doing this for no reason :wonder:

Yeah, there are some idiots about. :( It just seems people don't have any time any more... A lot of people just seem so impatient, which just creates problems for everyone - the classic one is when one car is going down a long line of parked cars (turning the road into single-track), and gets almost to the end when some idiot starts to go the other way, blocking it, and refuses to move (I see that nearly daily driving from work)...

Personally, I absolutely hate tailgaters, as they make me feel very conscious of them, and my surroundings, as I feel I cannot brake anything other than very softly sometimes..! For me, it's preferable for them to overtake, as they're "out of my hair" (had one yesterday overtook me whilst doing 30 in a 30, directly into on-coming traffic forcing them to slow, and then proceeded to go at 30 ... so they gained about 10 metres!). I do find it annoying when you have one stuck on your boot whilst doing 30 in a 30, you speed up to 40 when the limit changes, and they don't accelerate with you (or they do about a minute later and then come whizzing past!). All you can do is try to remain calm, and not let them affect you (so you don't get forced into making a mistake). I would say that perhaps slowing down when you have a tailgater is not the best idea, as I know people that have had a tailgater over-take and then brake sharply as they started to move back in (whilst straddling the carriageway centre-line), causing the person being overtaken to run straight up the back of them (for this very reason I always brake when being overtaken).

As for it being rare to see a Skoda being driven that way ... I find the people that tend to drive a bit like a berk are those that tend to spend all day on the road, or like fast cars - they're therefore more likely to have a "luxury" car, such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc (and not buy the optional indicator & mirror pack :p), or a "sporty" one (as this is boy-racer territory, this includes Saxo's, etc, even if they're not really) - Skoda doesn't exactly have much "street cred", so they're not as likely to want to be seen in one (I know people who don't like my car because "it's a Skoda, it'll fall to bits and be slow, innit"). I know that's a horrifically sweeping generalisation, but in my limited experience it holds fairly well ...
