Debadging tailgate on a superb?

Featured Replies

anyone done this? how? I think the elegant lines of the superb's r e a r e n d are a bit spoilt by badging. thinking about removing the "superb 2.5 tdi" bit if it's not too much of a pain!

All you need is a heat gun or hair drier and then some dental floss and after a bit of a clean up, jobs a good un.........

Look no badges:

You'll be left with foam gunk on car. Grab regular furniture polish, spray on a fair bit and leave to soak in for 20 mins, then gently rub it away. The furniture polish acts as a very mild solvent.

thank you guys for the quick response! My first "mod"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't do it.....

We wear our Skoda badges with pride these days, it's so satisfying when you draw up alongside at the lights and ppl wonder what type of ocean liner just arrived, if you keep the car immaculate and shine the tyres you will draw admiring eyes I assure you.

I have my paint nice and shinny, so shinny infact under lighting it takes on a white silver effect, I'm proud to drive this car, and for all it's faults, it really is something special, ok it's no F1 car, but the 130 TDi is away off the lights while most other TDi's are still looking for the turbo.

The longer you own the car the more attached to it you will become trust me, so wear those badges, we all thought of removing them at first, but it's a good feeling to have the bloke in his BMW look and wonder why he spent 20k too much emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

BTW, if you really must remove them, pour boiling water over the badges and they will pull off easy, then clean up with T&G remover, it's quicker that way.

It's all the more reason to do it. Used to have a 325i BMW, largest they did at the time, instantly took the badge off. Same went for a 3.0 V6, all the badges came off. "The more you know, the less you show" kinda thing. Besides you'll know you have a V6 by the growl.

Might go buy some dental floss then :giggle:

I must say when that Audi driver with his 1.8 sticks on your bumper on the M1, he won't know what happened to him when a SKODA! starts pulling away and he can do fluff all to catch up! Love th emid range pulling power of the V6 (even though it isnt actually that much more than the 130PD!) :giggle:

RIGHT, I have now bought some dental floss... Minty too, smells quite nice :)

This is what I have done so far... (sorry pics are cack, had to use phone camera)

Tools for the job: Wifes hairdrier, Minty dental floss, Mr Sheen original and a tea towel

25032010001.jpg

I heated up the badges for approx 1 minute with a hair drier and then sliced them off with dental floss

Before I removed anything

25032010.jpg

"SUPERB" removed still sticky stuff.

25032010002.jpg

2.5 TDI removed and "SUPERB" sticky stuffpartially removed

25032010003.jpg

Applied lots of Mr Sheen to sticky stuff and decided to take my door apart whilst I was waiting (speakers are broken, music played to loud :o )

25032010004.jpg

All removed

25032010005.jpg

There are still some edges left on which I am finding hard to get rid of. Going to take the car to the car wash then buy some tee cut, will post up finished results later :)

And my dont I look handsome in the paint reflection

Regular car wax will remove that shadowing buddy. I had the same. Polishes straight out with a little elbow grease.

After car wash

After T Cut - Took this pic in the dark though

Keep going. 10 minutes more of tough polishing and there will be no trace!

They do look better debadged fella. Lines are much smoother.

Liking the pink hairdryer too .... although there's no way I'm buying that it belongs to your Mrs.

Shhh, dont tell anyone. I need to keep my perm in tip top condition thankyou

Ill give it a final T cut when its light, I was T Cutting it in the dark, probably a silly idea :)

You need to do it some more. You might want to refine the area you've t-cut with a finer polish like megs scratch-x and then wax it.
