Just about to order a vRS, but......

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

just about to order a vRS TDI DSG Estate, in fact I have paid a 1k deposit (yesterday). I joined this site today and read all about DTD prices, (Which I must admit not knowing about before this) no surprise that my car specified from them was £1400 cheaper than the dealers price, with hte options I had picked.

Question is do you think I have chance of getting a better price from the dealer, given that I have paid this deposit. As yet we have not entered to any finance agreement I was just putting down the 1k and was going to set up the rest of the deal tomorrow/ Monday.

Great site btw, looking forward to your response's

The finance has nothing to with it.

Have you signed an order form, i.e. there is now a contract between you and the garage.

If you have it might be hard to get out of.

Has the garage taken the VAT off the car and all the options.

Could be a tricky one

Hi, no nothing signed, just the deposit paid. Just wondered if I have any leverage with the price I got quoted from DTD today, against his price?

In which case I would go back and say you want to renegotiate the price, he may tell you to go forth and multiplyemoticon-0105-wink.gif. Ask for your deposit back and go to DTD

Having said that it is unlikely that he will match the DTD, very few dealers will. But you might end up getting close.

I concluded my purchase with a dealer who got within £250 of DTD price

This was a discount of 5.3% off the previously reduced price(VAT off)
