Control System for Exhaust

Featured Replies

I have had my octavia for 9 weeks now I think if that, I have noticed some burning smells when reversing and the car making a funny noise when reversing onto drive, and now this light has came on which I thought was engine management but its actually control system for Exhaust, what does this actually mean? the manual doesn't seem to helpful apart from to say stop driving and go to the nearest specilist garage, I will get there during next week I do about 30 miles a day to work is this going to have a negative effect on car?

I phoned up the dealer on Friday (the service I am quite disheartended at never had good service since I bought it!) and they said phone drive assist (I think it was called) but I cant find any numbers for it or anything in my paper work? the benfield dealership website is pretty hopeless!!

Could this be the DPF filter? You say you do a 30-mile round trip to work and back per day; does this consist of any high speed motorway driving?

Forgot to mention its the Vrs Diesel on a 57 plate!

My driving is 30 miles a day but not motorspeeds I would say about 10 miles is, rest is in traffic generally but I can take it easy if need be!

The noise when reversing is like 3 little booms/pops/blows I just cant describe but its when you lift off accelrator!

DPF issue I would say. Needs a good run to clear it

I had a knocking coming from the area of the engine bay closest to the front passenger side for a while. This only happened when i pressed the

accelerator. I could make this noise happen when consistently when i pressed the accelerator. I found out that a solenoid that is mounted against

the bulkhead was causing it. Skoda replaced the unit for me free of charge (under warranty). The solenoid was part of the vacuum unit assembly.

My point being is that the noise(s) you're hearing could be something else and not related to the exhaust system.

By the way, the dpf on my car re-gens at least 2 or 3 times per week but it gets an almost 90-mile 'blast' down the motorway everyday!!

I too have the dreaded "Control system for exhaust" warning light on. My Sloda dealer service team have diagnosed a faulty wiring loom as they have carried out a continuity check through it and it has failed. They have not identified where (if?) the break is, just that they cannot get a signal through it. They have quoted £397 to replace it. Has anyone else had this suggested as a fix for this problem?

The light has now gone so we shall see how long that lasts!
