washer for felicia female-type oil drain plug?

Featured Replies

It's time for an oil change and I want to fit a new washer to the drain plug.

When I went to buy the filter the bloke offered me a standard-bolt-type oil drain plug with washer.

However the current drain plug has a female recess (that I had to buy a special socket for)

The car's a V-reg 99 felicia.

Does anyone know what the outer diameter of this female-type drain plug is please or better still the diameter of the washer hole

Also what should the outer diameter of the washer should be?

Veker Extrusions and Gasket (Hall Green, Birmingham) seems a good place to go (close) unless anyone's got a better idea.

Thank you in anticipation

the proper sump plug with washer is less than £1 from the main skoda dealer parts dept

Its not the money its the time.

He hadn't got the part in and said he'd need to order it.

I wanted to do it tomorrow morning.

If you can assure me that the male plug is a perfect replacement for the female one I'd be more than happy to go and buy it.

The bloke (proper skoda parts dealer) couldn't assure me.

It was about £1.60.

What's £1.60, if it don't fit you can get away with using the old washer.

the corerect plug should be 22mm with 14mm thread i am guessing you have a fabia sump plug fitted which is an 8mm allen key type plug??

unless someone has welded another nut or bodged it up somehow i would think the one from the skoda dealer will be fine

Thanks for the response.

The plug isn't bodged and takes a 17mm hexagonal allen type head.

ie its quite big

Hope this throws some light...

I'll try the 14mm threaded one

Edit:

It's been a while but I thought while I was on here I'd correct my mistake.

The above plug is for the gear oil.

I changed that 8 months ago and just confused it with the engine oil change I did at the same time.

You were all quite right.

A nearby general motor factors gave me a Dowty washer (with rubber insert).
