clutch query

Featured Replies

im not going to pretend i know anything about them! but i am having mine replaced next week and im a little bit hesitant.

the manager where i work knows the guy who owns the garage in his village and aparently he is very good at his job, does loads of resterations and hasnt had a bad word said about him and does one guys brand new jags rather than jag themselves. well im rather skint after everything else thats gone t!ts up and have been given a very good 'mates rates' price so hes doing it for me. i am slightly dubious about not having a main dealer do it but it needs doing now and cant wait!

now to the question is it a 2 or 3 piece clutch?

like i said im not a mechanic so if anyone could help me out, thanks! he was under the impression he wouldnt know till he opened it up but i want to save some time.

as its a very big job to change the clutch you need a 3 piece kit if you are keeping the car , as its not cost effective to change the release bearing / clutch assembly on its own later , as it all needs to come to pieces again

3 piece = 1 x pressure plate 1 x driven plate 1 x clutch release

you can buy the kit ( 2 piece = pressure plate /driven plate ) and then the release bearing seperately

suggest Luk or Sachs
