cambelt or chain

Featured Replies

Hi, my daughter bought a 2000 fabia 1.4 MPI a few weeks ago. When she bought it the drivebelt was stripping. The garage replaced it but 3 weeks later it's stated to strip again and we've been told the water pump has gone as there's water dripping. What i'd like to know is does this model have a belt or chain, and can we just change the water pump. Hope someone can help.

Chain on the 8v's belt on the 16v's

Oh, ignore that - I thought you meant for the cam chain/belt. For the bit you refer to I'm not 100%, but it was a belt on my 1.4 16v, but no idea for the 8v.

You can just change the pump as its outside of the engine casing, engine runs a cam chain emoticon-0148-yes.gif
