Tank Size

Featured Replies

Just filled up my fabia 2000 1.4 (8V) and it was 51.61 litres at Tesco. I thought that the tank would be nearer to 45 litres. Anyone got any idea how it could be filled that level. I am not leaking fuel.

Thanks.

Matthew

Ibiza is same car, its a 45 litre tank, but wiill hold 55 litres mate. Its just a case of it was pretty low, and youve filled tank, and spare bits really mate

I just filled up 54.75litres in my fabia tdi by 'venting'. Maybe thats what you did by accident when filling.

Yep, expansion tank plus the total pipes equals around another 10L. Actual tank is 45L/9.9 UK Gal.

45 is the official amount... Take care not to overfill spesh on a diesel as it may well spill onto the road as you take the first corner... As it wont evaporate like petrol, it can be lethal to motorcyclists!!

If you spill it, you have an obligation to inform the authorities, who have to clear it asap. that includes IN the forecourt of the fuelling station.

When you say the Faia Vrs has an expansion tank, how do you fill it up? Managed to over fill mine a couple of time and all I got was a wet foot. Fill up when the light comes on and put in around 37 litres. It's a 2005 model.

cheers

Mine once took 58.01 litres. I let it get really low then filled the expansion tank.

I dont make a habit of this due to possible spillages/waste.

The Jedi filler neck trick should only be used when

you're setting off on a long journey. I usually do it

when I head down to London for a run.

But it should never really be used on a petrol

car as petrol changes size quite dramatically

in varying temperatures. Hence the need for an expansion tank.

Diesel is far more stable volume wise and the expansion tank is only there

as it's cheaper for Skoda to just fit the one tank in all engine variants.

So how do you fill the expansion tank???
