Octavia starting problems

Featured Replies

I have recently acquired a 57 reg Octavia 2.0 pd DSG, which has a strange intermittent starting problem.

Problem: First start of the day is instant - a touch of the key and it is away. Subsequent starts during the day (sometimes after a short trip) the engine occasionally doesn't start and sounds as though it is running on 2 cylinders for about 3-5 seconds, and then cuts out. Sometimes this can happen for 2 or 3 tries before a successful start (normally with some accelerator assistance). No faults showed on the dealer's diagnostic check. Rest of the car is excellent!

I have never encountered this problem before on my previous 2 diesel Octavias.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

TFSI ???? what is this? I have the same problem on my octavia occassionally starts first time... then wont start until about 4 attempts

Sounds like low battery volts or a starter motor on it's way out.
