Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all, my second post. Hope you will all be patient if I ask any silly questions.

I currently run a Subaru Forester 2.0 turbo. I know that a 1.2 turbo will probably seem a bit limp compared with what I am used to, but I don't like diesels. I,ve tested a 1.8 TSI which was very nice, but the reason I wish to change to the Yeti is to save money so I need better fuel consumption and lower VED (I am retired on a fixed income). Also, it must be auto as have not used a manual for over 20 years and don't wish to go back.

I would appreciate any advice from owners of the 1.2 (manual or DSG) as to how this little engine copes with a vehicle of the Yeti's size and bulk. Does anyone think i ought to consider a 140 diesel as this may be nearer to what I am used to?

Thanks in advance,

GeorgeG

hi and welcome to the YETI forum

All questions are encouraged, no matter how silly they appear.

I think (to answer your q) that every single review ever published about the YETI 1.2 talks of the power and sophistication of the thing - and with the DSG it also seems to acquire universal praise. Like You i wished to economise (but also to get about in snowy weather) and was quite astonished at the bite and the oomph of the engines on the test drives.

No fears, Fella!! Good luck with your deliberations!

Thanks for that Freshacre. I see that you went for a 170 diesel despite being impressed with the 1.2. Was that because you wanted 4x4? Presumably the 170 diesel Yeti is a completely different animal to the 1.2 TSI.
