Looking to move to a Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi i ve currently got a 888 Astra coupe Turbo and am thinking of changing to a diesel most likely a Fabia VRS or diesel Cupra etc as to be honest i rarely use the power the car has and only use it for commuting so as long as i ve got enough poke to keep me amused i d prefer to be getting better MPG and the VAG diesels seem to have the sporty but practical mix that i m looking for!

Welcome to the site

Yep the VAG diesels are very economical and still have lots of poke

Fabia VRS, Mk2 Octavia VRS diesel or the Seat Ibiza Cupras and Leon Cupras / FRs with the diesel engines are all worth a look, as are the Audis and VWs but a bit more expensive

The petrols aren't that bad for economy either, the old 1.8T lump in the Octavias manages above 30mpg and the newer 2 litre TFSI gets even more.

I ve had a Leon Cupra R in the past and used to get around 30 mpg the Astra always does 30-33mpg,it s not bad for what it is but as i drive usually like an old man i think a diesel would make most sense!
