Quite a few people have used DtD on here with great sucess. I am surprised the dealer is not budging at all in price. I assume you already have the no VAT and interest free deal on the car?

I would not worry about ESP on 1.6D.

Belt driven cars need to have them changed more frequently than a chain so there is a little more servicing costs. Most need to be changed every 4 years so it is not particularly often. Hence the belt service would be a majorish one within 5 years. From what I remember on my VRS you have a small and bigger servicing alternating between each one. I can not tell you the cost as I have always taken out the Skoda maintenance, servicing and tyres cover. This cost £32 a month for 3 years and covered all servicing and tyres over that period. Cosidering 18" VRS tyres are over £100 a corner this worked out well for me. I believe they do this over 4 years now so could help you budget all your running costs.

By me all the Taxis are white Octavias so it would always be Silver between those 2 choices.

PSM, thanks for your response, the 0% is only on the vRS unfortunately, but yes it has the VAT offer!

I think I will do some shopping around a few other local dealers and see what they can do, I guess its all about being hard faced with them!

I have always found an open and honest friendly approach works best. Laying your cards on the table in terms of what you can afford (along with any internet prices etc you have) has always given me a good result. For my latest purchase I took in a print out of DtD price etc. and just explained where I was at.
