Have tried a search but without luck. Where can I find the engine number that is supposed to be stamped on the engine?

what kinda fabia have you got?

open bonnet

look at the engine mount ( drivers side)

follow it up to it meets the engine

there should be a sticker around there some where... might be a barcode on it and engine "number" should start with 3 letters

(you might need to remove the plastic engine cover to see it)

you will find the number on the V5 document too

Its a 2001 1.4 8v estate

I had already checked there following a previous search. Nothing there but a set of stampings in the turret plate:

0201

VW AG

600201967

SPAIN ??? can't read these last letters

Still waiting for the logbook to come back from DVLA.

There is a sticker in the boot which gives the engine as AQW but that is all. I think the owners manual said that the number was also stamped on the engine somewhere. Just wanted to double check all the numbers matched!
