Dealers having a laugh

Featured Replies

Had a quick look at the approved skoda used cars web site this morning to see whats around, and could not believe my eyes, i am sure some dealers are having a laugh with the prices they are trying to flog used VRS's.

For instance a 10 reg VRS CR DSG with 5000 on the clock, had a fair few extras, was marked up at a touch under 24K!!!!

A good 6k overpriced in my mind bearing in mind the deals that available.

a 10 reg with 5000 miles on it already?

Sometimes because we have to advertise all our cars we mark the cars that we don't want to sell up for a lot of money to make sure it stays with us for a bit. For example I don't want to sell our vRS demo at the moment or the Yeti as once they go I haven't got anything to replace them with.

It will not have 5000 miles on it, at least not yet. It will be a demonstrator, probably not ready for sale yet (they have to keep them for a minimum 3 months), and 5000 will be a nominal mileage for a 3 month old demo. Price is taking the mickey, but there are some gullable people out there.

The list price for that car is over £25k as it has a load of extras (although it's quite hard to see what is base spec and what is an extra from the listing).

Extras included:

  • Leather Seats - £820
  • Metallic Paint - £410
  • Columbus - £1580
  • Xenon Lights - £720
  • Heated Front Seats - £260
  • Parking Sensors - £270

Comes to around £25,115 list price according to the January brochure. Still not much of a discount but as James said it is probably a demo car they don't want to get rid of yet.
