Can I just say....

After a long weekend trip, I am filled with pride and amazement at the vRS. It took all four of us, a boot full of stuff and returned an average of 40.2 mpg (my calculations, not the car's). Pretty good for a car with over 210bhp.

Not only that but today it acted as a flatbed pickup truck. This morning I demolished a brick fireplace complete with brick TV cabinet. There were 20 rubble sacks, six breeze blocks and the fire back and it only took two trips to the tip to get rid. No matter what I throw at the Skoda, it just takes it all and keeps on going strong.

There are so many threads on here stating problems, that I thought I'd put a positive thread up for a change. :D

p.s. I'll be putting one up in a minute with a turbo whistle issue though.

lol nice one mate, glad you happy,

I like mine as well even though its a 4x4 :p

Im keen to get an RS - when the insurance falls a little bit. I like mine even though its a 1.6, still great fun and practical!

I have to say, I love my vRS. So far (fingers crossed) it's been pretty much 100% apart from the brake mooing problem. The remap has given it some real muscle, and yet coming home tonight in a fair amount of traffic it returned 38mpg on a 26 mile trip. It does all the family stuff without breaking a sweat either, plus the boot is (adopt brummie accent) 'yowge' :)

I guess I should have generalised a bit more and said Octavia and not vRS. All the variants all as good as each other but for different reasons I suppose. It seems that Skoda hit it just right with the MK1, striking the balance between space, economy and initial price.

Yep, I have owned quite a few cars and as an overall package, the Octavia is one of the best :)

agreed. i have owned a lot of cars which normally only stay in my company for 6 months, but ive had my octavia 1 vrs nearly 3 yrs now and still enjoy its performance/reliability and practicality

Yip, love my yellow 54 plate octavia vrs, had it for 2 years and hope to have it for many more. Spent 3 hours cleaning it today, now my hubby is off into town, it better not come back dirty !!! :wonder:

I'm ashamed to say, but mine spent the day being a skip lorry again. Rubble sacks and a dusty road to the tip have left it looking pretty filthy. I might try tomorrow to spend a bit of time giving it some TLC.

By the way, Yellow was my first choice of colour, but as Henry Ford dictated, I could only get black at the time.

very good cars i had two of them not so long ago both vrs s one silver and one black sold the silver one to my mate
