Any tips on how to fix a kerbed alloy?

Is it just on the rim leading edge? I found a pretty good way to mask it at least was to rub down the roughness on the lip with 100 grit sandpaper, essentially getting back to pure alloy, then mask off the rim edge on the inside with parcel tape, and using a piece of card sandwiched inbetween the rim and tyre, spray 1 coat of silver alloy wheel paint, let dry, and repeat with lacquer. Hides most of the dull black marks you get when grazing a kerb,
