Correct oil for Fabia 1.9 Tdi (100 hp) 2004

Featured Replies

Hi,

Forgive the stupid question, but I didn't get a manual with the car and I don't trust the monkeys down at the local autoshop or Halfrauds.

Any advice gratefully received.

PS- does anyone know if the heated seat fuse is actually on the fusebox (extreme end of dash, as you open the door, driver's side)? Both seem to have stopped working, and not having a manual I don't know which fuse and whether there is a fuse for the heated seats in there.

You want 5w 40 505.01 spec oil (for short term servicing - 10,000 mile intervals)

There should be a fuse layout guide in your user manual. ;) Will most likely be one of the fuses in the end of the dash, drivers side.

I didn't get a manual with the car: it was a lease car and the previous user had lost the manual. Many thanks for the advice:)

Thread moved as the OP asked a question rather than posting a guide...

Worth noting also 5w30 fully synthetic as long as it meets VW507 spec which is backward compatible with 505.01. The newer 5w30 507 also generates less SAPs and can be used as a long drain oil.

If you put this car into VW dealer for oil change they would probably use oil spec 507 ( long life ) regardless of whether it was on fixed interval or variable interval servicing .

Please note that ASDA has started to stock 507 spec oil (Mobil #1 5W-30) for £32 for 5 Litres which is the cheapest I have ever seen .Please check 507 spec is quoted on container.

Also worth checking National Tyres, as they do an oil change and filter for £39.60, using Castrol Edge oil, and I think you can get a bit off if you pre-book over the internet. Not worth getting your hands dirty
