Life expectancy of standard dampers

Featured Replies

My 05 tdi estate has done 64k miles now, both rear bumpstops have split and I have new ones to fit. Whilst I have the dampers off would it be worth fitting a new pair or are they good for approx 100k miles?

Our last Fabia was a 51 plate 1.9TDI estate. It had done 130k on the original dmapers by the time we parted with it a year ago and they were still absolutely fine.

It's all down to what sort of Terrain the car travels over & how it is used.

If you do mainly Motorway miles, They will last forever, If your on today's side roads most of the time, Their life will be shortened, Couple this with constant loading & it will shorten further ... Difficult to answer really ....
