Strange, mine did the same when the turbo boosted too much. It went off when you stopped and restarted.

I did have an Audi S3 turbo 'though.

Faulty ABS/ESP pump most probably ,not cheap , there are a few threads on here about it . Honest Johns take on ESP problems

Had car in at stealers today, plugged it in and told me it needs ABS/ESP pump which they would fit for £870.

They then took £47 for the pleasure of reading the fault code!

Nightmare.

I had intermitant ESP light coming on, it would reset on restart found it was a blown brake light fuse. 2002 4X4 Turbo.

In a recent question to Honest John he said a British company had come up with a permanent fix for much less money than replacement pump.

Might be worth a look and although Skoda not listed the VW parts will probably fit
