Hi , just about to replace the drivers seat on SHMBO Fabia. The studs I need to remove have what looks like a lrge size torx , bit with more sides. Anyone know what these are called and what size socket I will need to source? also what should I torque them to when refitting?

M20 spline is what you need I believe. Torx bits have 6 "points" forming a star, the spline bits have 12 "points" or splines. You probably could use a torx bit in there, but I believe they are quite tight and you wouldn't want to strip them. Halfords sell a spline socket set but expect to pay about £20 for it. You'll also need a rachet with a 1/2 inch drive i THINK. I can't remember exactly but will say on the socket set anyway.

Edit: as for torque setting. I can't help you there unfortunately. I just did them back up firmly and kept checking them every few miles at first, then every few hundered miles and so on until I was satisfied they were staying tight.

M20 is HUGE It's only an M10, possibly an M8. Definitely one of those 2. Torque them to "tight" - that's enough.
