squeeky clutch

Featured Replies

this will probably sound daft but my clutch pedal is squeeking when its pressed in

the car drives fine and the clutch isnt slipping at all so do you think a little wd40 will do the trick?

Water Dispersant 40, or possibly an actual penetrating lubricant instead should work; it's probably the pivot bearing that's a little dry.

I had this, just put a large blast of WD40 up in the clutch pedal mechanism and it's been fine for a few months now.

i've had this happen on two previous cars...they were high mileage ones. I did try spraying wd40 or white grease on the pedal mechanism...there was a spring there that was the culprit. the squeakyness went away but one day the spring shot out of it as it pulled away from the rest of the bracket. Was fine to drive. Got it fixed later.

My vRS does this and it's done 48k. Mind you I often drive with steel toe boots which probably doesn't help.

mines doing this at the moment but it sounds like its coming from the outside of the car??

sorted mine yesterday, wasnt the clutch pedal itself but the plastic around the top of the pedal was rubbing, only took a quick fiddle and a blast of wd40 and its gone now

MIne did this and after trying the wd40, it wore off after a while & the squeak came back. I put a blob of proper grease on it and rubbed it in well & its never come back. ;)
