1.6TDI - Any Remap options available yet?

Featured Replies

Hi all! Just wondering if there are any official 1.6tdi remap solutions available yet?

I've heard that those plug and play chip boxes are a nono so would love to know if anyone has had a go at calibrating the ECU on one of these bad boys!

I've emailed them asking about the Octavia 1.6 so here's hoping they'll be able to do that too!

Will do, Kyle! I've been interested in this for quite some time..and am beginning to regret not buying a 1.9tdi Elegance while I had the chance.

Still. I'm sure as time goes by the option will become available. :)

Just to update. Got this response from FR Tuning -

"Thanks for your enquiry. Yes we can offer you a remap for your 2010 Octavia 1.6TDI. The performance gains will be very similar to the mk6 golf 1.6TDI listed on our site. Pricing will depend on the method that we are able to reprogramme the ECU by. With a 2010 car most likely we will need to remove the ECU as late 2009 and 2010 cars have the latest protected ECU, which makes them impossible to reprogramme over the diagnostic port. We have done quite a few of these by this method incluing new A4, A5, Q5. Price by this method will be £400+VAT. IF we can reprogramme via diagnostic port cost will be £300+VAT. Thanks"

So looks like it's possible but it won't be easy/cheap! That said, a 10-20% economy boost as well as 20-30 extra bhp depending on package. Definitely something to consider. Just wondering whether I'll have to wait until the warranty expires as any main dealer servicing will probably reset the ECU.

I'd like to see them remap your 1.6TDI :D

Do you think it's not possible, Shark?

Looks like a similar gain to the 1.9 105bhp then but with more trouble

I will be interested to here if anyone gets theres done as I was thinking about getting the new 1.6tdi

FR Tuning seems to think 1.6TDI is with a Bosch EDC17 ECU :D

I'll also be happy to hear about their results on this Continental PCR2.1 ECU. ;)

Its not possible yet. 1.6TDI is equipped with a Continental PCR2.1 ECU, which is completely different from other diesels in VAG cars.

At the moment there is no tool available to program the 1.6TDI.
