ECU RESET

Featured Replies

Hello,

Does anyone out there have a code reader with 16 pin socket that can read and reset the ecu on my 1998 Felicia 1.6 GLXI. I have replace the throttle body but it appears the ecu will not reset. If anyone can help I am happy to buy a few beers.

"Reset" the ECU? You mean restore it to previous values?

Could always try what they call a terminal 30. Disconnect the battery terminals from the battery and touch them together, so it discharges any remaining current from the system. See if it resets your ecu. Remember to have radio code handy though, if applicable.

I would rather leave it a couple of hours for the energy to naturally dissipate and reset the ecu, rather than sticking the terminals together....

Im not saying it cant be done, but it isn't something i'd like to do to my car.

I understand why you say that, but it's only residual current that's discharging. There's no sparks or anything like that ... because the power source is disconnected. It's how they reset in the workshop .... well to be fair they only remove the negative lead and ground it to the vehicle, but same principle.

I have no idea if that's what the OP meant by resetting the ECU though?
