Aircon not working - anyone with VAG-COM in west yorks?

Hello.

Aircon decided it's not going to work full stop. A/C light comes on but nothing happens at all. No change in engine revs, no aircon fan on under bonnet either and can't hear compressor clicking on and off (although I wouldn't know what it was supposed to sound like anyway) . It's a 2001 TDi, never been re-gassed but it worked perfectly the last time I tried it 2 months ago.

I've read the various threads on evap sensors, flaps etc but I'd like to know if anyone can help me out with a fault code check before I go to a garage and get ripped off for 5 minutes work.

I knew as soon as I had some money to get some VRS alloys, something would come along to swallow it up!

I live in wakefield west yorkshire. Any help much appreciated.
