Well, obviously, I'm new here and I stumbled on the forums while looking for some advice.

I'll do the right thing though, I'll use the search tool first before I begin posting any random HELP topics.

Just briefly, (incase someone reading knows the answer), my immobiliser keeps randomly kicking in and I can't trust the information given to me by the dealer because it's vague and costly.

Well, here goes with the research...

P.S. I like the nice 'clean' look of this website! So many forum based sites are just too cluttered and confusing from a design point of view. Keep it clean, simple, and enjoyable to use! ;)

Can you start the car, then it dies straight away?

Hi Mate, I'm having exactly the same problem and I cant find an answer for it...... there appears to be nothing wrong with the car besides this really, every so often when I go to start the car, it just wont start and I end up with a flashing immobiliser light in the car ( which I believe occurs when the car and the key have misaligned codes.....) but I don't know why it happens every so often and not all of the time..... If you've managed to find the answer since posting this, or indeed, if anyone else knows - please post as its becoming a real pain in the rear!

On the MK1 Octavia , there is a green and black (IIRC) wire that helps with the reading going to the immobiliser

I can not remember the part number , or the price

But I do know there is a wire there to help with the strength of the reading for it , to solve that said problem

Good luck

Welcome along

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

thank you for your prompt reply; the immobiliser has immobilised my car again today, this time, miles away from home in Tescos car park! not good :( Do you reckon this is a problem with signal strength then?

Welcome to the forums.

I agree, this is a very clean looking forum :)
