has anyone got or treid theses head units

Featured Replies

Hi has anyone tried these two head units and if so what are they like?

1,avicf9110bt made for Vw/ Skoda

2, Zenec ZE NC-2010

The Pioneer is basically a F910BT with a VAG specific surround. Nice bit of kit and probably sounds ok.

The Zenec looks a bit naff TBH but who can tell - you pays yer money and takes your chance..........

There are lots of dodgy Chinese units on ebay which will fit but are cack quality.

Have to ask - is there a reason you don't want to plump for a Columbus?

I have just come back from China where I bought a couple of VW/Skoda-fit GPS/DVD units. Fitted one in the wife's Fabia II at the weekend and I am impressed. The fit and finish is excellent. Sound quality (CD/SD Card/iPOD etc) is very good and at least as good as the standard-fit VAG 'Dance' headunit. It also has digital TV, which (much to my amazement) gives a first-rate picture when the car is parked up. For GPS I am using iGO8 with late-2009 maps, which is at least as good as the VAG navi software on the MFD2/3 units (I previously have owned an MFD2).

Downsides are lousy RDS performance (station name does not always appear) and the FM sensitivity is relatively poor so that if the signal becomes weak you get crackles sooner than you would with a VAG unit. I must say that for what I paid its an outstanding value unit. I'll write up a little 'how to' for the Fabia II install (it was dead easy, basically plug-and-play with Quadlock and CANbus adapter).

As Wardth says go for the Columbus unit I learned the hard way, look on ebay for mutims that's where I got mine from
