Octavia VRS PD TDi Chassis

Featured Replies

Can someone please settle a debate Im currently having with my brother.

Its regarding the chassis on the Octavia VRS and the TDI in particular. Im 100% certain I have read in a magazine that out of all the hot VAG hatches (Golfs, Octys, Leons), whilst the petrol Leon Cupra and VRS TFSI share the famed Golf GTI chassis, it is only the VRS that takes the same set up into the diesel version. Seemingly the Leon FR TDI and Golf GT TDI 170 have the 'normal' set ups underneath with just stiffened suspension to set them apart from there 1.4 petrol sibblings.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

They're all the "same" setup, MacPherson struts and coil springs at front, with multi-link rear.

The FR TDI feels the same to drive as the TSI, since they're both the same FR spec. Not driven a Golf GT, but I'd imagine that it's "softer" than the GTI. Cause it's not a GTI.
