Poorly VRS!

Featured Replies

Last night when leaving work, the fabia stopped. Just stopped. No engine, no stall, plenty of electric, it just gave up.

Managed to roll it to a safe spot, called out a mate with some tools and we set about trying to find the problem.

Fault code reader gave us nothing, plenty of electric, we couldn't see what it was.

Called out a recovery man who eventually diagnosed it as the fuel pump.

Bugger.

No worries, I'll get it towed home and sorted out I think to myself.

All attached for towing, recovery guy swings to sharp for me to keep up with without PAS, and crunch.

So now, not only have I got a buggered fuel pump, my front bumper has a massive crack next to the lower grill and scratches across the whole front.

At least I can claim for the bumper.....

I'd suggest you make a claim against the recovery firm for the bumper mate.

Might want to have a read of this, sounds similar to my problems at the moment:

Sorry to hear about the bumper  Must have been towing you pretty damn close to the recovery vehicle?

Pretty damn sure it's the pump under the seat. No fault codes, no indication anything was going to happen, no warning lights.

And as for towing close, I was on a rigid bar with a slight spring. It was more down to him forgetting that my lack of power steering meant I couldn't turn as quick as him rather than anything else.

Broke my mlada number plate holder as well :(

Bad times buddy :'(

Oh and be warned, the pump under the seat is bloody pricey. Think I paid a shade over £230 for it.

I've found one for £140 so far from my local motor factors, I think I can still beat it tomorrow with a few phone calls though...

I'm going to go jump off the roof now... :o

Relay comes up fine on the multimeter - don't really know how else to check it!

Turns out it wasn't the pump, it was a squiffy battery!

Glad you found the problem!

Shame about the bumper! Good luck with the claim........ :wonder:
