Remap advise!

Featured Replies

just brought a 03 reg 1.8T want to get it maped anywhere anyone can recommend? are there any down sides to having it remaped?

thanks!

Whereabouts in the Midlands are you?

I believe Unit18 in Wellingborough do remaps?

Downsides - insurance is higher, fuel use is higher (only if you boot it around everywhere), plus you will need to get it custom remapped again at a later date if you do other things to it (like exhaust etc) as the map won't be tailored to them.

Where in the Midlands are you? We're based in Mansfield.

If you added something simple like a cat-back exhaust there would be no need to have it remapped again, only if you started to go towards downpipes, de-cats, intercoolers and air intakes etc would you need to have the map adjusted.

Or you have R-Tech in Leicester

You can start with a generic map and have it "tweaked" at a later date to take in any mods you do.

I can recommend Performance Torque in wolverhampton :)

Good smooth torquey maps

i recommend highly either r-tech in leicster or motech through unit 18 2 of the best in the market

other than that there is jabba or revo but deffo go with the top 2 maps miles better than the rest out there at the minute

r-tech pal, great lads there, nick will sort you out for sure.

im taking mine there in august, to get mapped.

I run a mk1 VRs with remap and panel filter for 2.5 yrs @40000 miles.

Economy was better, insurance premium minimal go compare cover maps now.

So worth doing the car will be transformed. Mine was mapped by a small time specialist though I would be inclined to pay a bit more.

Do shark offer the STS for Mk1 they had offer yesterday of 20% off.
