Filter Cleaning?

Featured Replies

Strangely, i decided to clean off the air filter last nite, only to discover the last owner had kindly put in a green cotten filter for me! Whats the best way of cleaning then, not that it seems dirty. Ive given it a scrub and hoover, but do i also need to give it a light coat of oil? I have some from a k&n purchase on the last car. I know it can lead to MAF problems etc etc...

Thanks

Hi

Green and K&N will be the same stuff

Do not over oil either , as too much then it can lead to issues

But only if YOU ooveroil it

Sarah

I bought a cleaning kit from Green for my one.

came with a detergent and an oil

coated it in detergent and scrubbed it with a paint brush until it was green again (mine had done 25k since it was put in so was jet black)

dried it as best i could then gave it a light spray of oil

baked it in the oven at 50 degress for about 10 minutes and stuck it back in

job is a gooden

I think MAF problems occur if you over oil them by far far to much

My only advice is never over oil and mop up with kitchen towel if you do. Dont use compressed air. Buy the correct green cotton oil. There's guides on youtube as well as the ITG website on how to clean a filter.
