312mm Brake Judder

Hi, hopefully someone can advise me on a slight issue that I am noticing with my brakes.

I had the 312mm brake upgrade carried out about 2 months ago, Ive done nearly 3000 miles on them. Now however I have started to have a slight pulsating feeling through the pedal when slowing from around 70mph. The car pulls up straight and true, and it only does it at reasonably high speeds after a few medium-hard stops. In everyday driving this isn't a problem, however I have a few track sessions coming up soon, and they don't exactly inspire confidence at the moment. My old brakes seemed to work better than these are at the moment :thumbdown:

Here are a couple of poor photos, after 4 or 5 medium-hard stops. I know discs turn blue after some abuse, but why only a certain section?

Any suggestions on what might be causing this / what to do?

Having a educated guess to get the ball rolling, could it be that the disc heated up unevenly, pads were uneven or had stuff on it which it shouldnt then caused extra heat at certain places while braking, or crud on disc which made a patch heat up quicker than the rest of the disc...... blah de blah.. more explained in link?

Are they EBC greenstuff?

If so get them off and get either the redstuff ceramic of OEM pads on there.

The greenstuff are in my opinion a horrible pad.

I currently run the reds and am happy with them, so it's not all EBC pads just the greens that seen less suited to our heavier cars.

Also on a second look are they vented discs, because they look like solids in one of your pictures, which would be completely wrong for the car.

The discs and pads are Mintex OEM stuff, so should be of a good quality! Yes they are vented 312's :thumbup:

Uneven pad-to-disk contact causing localised overheating. Have you allowed them to bed in (gentle driving for 100 miles and then a few steady but firm 60-10mph decelerations with time to cool down between?).

I did bed them in yes, but perhaps a little too harshly maybe. They work fine for most stopping applications, its just the really heavy braking that causes the judder. I can only imagine it will get worse with time :thumbdown:

If it were me I would take the pads off and freshen up the friction surface with some emery cloth. Also maybe fettle the disc surface similarly. I'd also drop a dial gauge on there to check for DTV/runout.

Ok thanks for that - it's worth a try at least (they have only done 3000 miles) before dishing out more £££!
