OK, my battery was disconected today and the CD player was in safe mode (PAIN). It is now asking me for the code and I dont have it. Does anyone know a way around this, failing that how much will the dealer charge for lifting the code. It is a standard skoda single CD player.

If like mine it should come back on when you switch on the ignition.but mine didn't so i phoned skoda customer services and they found the code for me.What i didn't no was the fuse had blown to the engine managment system so check your fuses first just for starters.

The code is stored on later--->2000/1 cars I believe however if you need a dealer to get it they will need your radio bar code /serial no and take your log book to prove car ownership. They have to provide the details to Skoda UK at Milton Keynes who kep the records and supply within a few hours.

The dealer will need your chassis number, your reg, date of reg and two forms of i.d.

They also need the 14 digit prefix code that is on the top of your stereo, then as John says they will e-mail Skoda who will e-mail them the code back.

There should be no charge for this.

Bleedin cheek, im pretty sure they aint supposed to do that.

I suppose its up to them but that aint really good customer service really is it. Especially as you intend to take your car to them for the service, id drop customer services a email if I was you.

When I had my car there was some details of some anti-theft register thingie that had the detail of my stereo code. They didn't have all details of my car as I had to give them the detail of my chassis number, engine number and so on but it might be worth trying them. I'll get the number if I can find my car in the car park..............

I gave my standard hu to my parents to replace the cassette player in their Fabia 1.4 and we couldnt get it to accept the code. We had to leave the unit at the dealers and I think they had to send it away. Anways it's back now and they charged them 20 quid and didnt even offer to put it back in for them.... :(
