How to PROPERLY install LCR Splitter

Featured Replies

Hi thought this might help a few people with the installations of their Leon Cupra R front Splitters....

1

Right first of all you want to remove the front bumper :)

there are a few guides on here but its pretty straight forward so i shall not go into detail

2

Turn the bumper upside down on a grassed area if possible to avoid scratching the bumper and offer up the Splitter to the bumper

3

You'll require a marker pen here and a little bit of guess work, where the two pronged parts are that people usually cut off mark on the underside of the bumper where these holes are - what were going to do is cut out some slots for them :)

4

Now you have the holes you require marked you'll require a sharp stanley blade :) this is trial and error so cut the holes small to begin with and just experiment from there, it took me 3 goes to get the holes perfect

5

Once the holes are cut out the pronged parts of the splitter should just pop through them and hold snuggly (never coming out and never needing trimmed or screwed)

6

Do as you would do normally to fix the rest of the bumper, pilot drill some holes and self tappers, the edges of the splitter will need trimmed also so its the correct length - this is pretty self explanatory

And voila - stand back and admire your PROPERLY non bodged fitted LCR splitter, what do people think and has anyone thought of this before, thanks, maybe a possibly sticky i hope :)

Now i'm no DIY/mechanic/engineering person in any way shape or form but I have fitted the LCR splitter on both our cars on my own and without removing the front bumper in less than 30 mins..... It's a little drastic isn't it??? If i had yet to fit the splitter and read this i wouldn't have bothered even buying it. ;)

And before you ask the car wasn't on ramps either.

Cheers

Dave.

I removed it as i wanted to make a perfect job of it...

Also the car is on coilovers ;)

Plus i needed the bumper off too as i needed to replace a boost hose on my FMIC

Yes you may well be able to do it with the bumper on but will it be as good a job..... i think not :)

So the two I've fitted aren't fitted well??? Or look sub standard??? They've been fitted for long enough with no problems and with no notion of being not as good an install.

I can post pics of them in situ if you prefer so we can compare your "perfect install" to my sub standard one. ;)

By the way I installed mine following the how to guide that is already on the forums and has been for some time. :)

lol was just an idea on how to fit the centre sections without cutting them, the LCR has holes there in the bumper so why not have some in the Fabia, was just a thought :)

Looks good! I love my LCR splitty :) guessing it would be pretty hard with coilovers on!

I put mine on ramps though to fit it :)

Nice idea, but unless there was a need to have the front bumper off anyway, i`d just do it with it on the car, jacked up. I cut the tabs off mine, and think it looks pretty well fitted, maybe not as perfect as cutting the holes, BUT, unless i get on the floor its near impossible to see it anyway

Matt

only thing with doing it with the clips in the holds, makes it "droop" a little doesn't it? I made sure I trimmed enough off to avoid that...

Yeah, common mistake, i only left a little bit on there, keeps it nice and flat to the bumper.

yes just a small amount but not noticeable when its on i feel

when i did my last one i had trouble fixing the two prongs anyways so it always 'drooped' anyhow

cool, be good to see the bumper back on
