help - 1.4 8v - freewheeling?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just spent the whole weekend changing the timing chain and after carefully putting everything back together it won't start. sounds a lot like no compression. I turned it over by hand to check for interference but its hit me now that it could be a non-interference engine and I could be 180 degrees out.

Can anyone confirm if this or the 1.3 felicia varient its based on is a freewheeling engine???

Thanks

Not got a link but there is a post somewhere about Fabia timing chains having incorrect timing marks I think?! Can you not feel the compression turning the engine by hand? (Getting harder to turn then suddenly releasing etc).

I think it is an interference engine as I am sure a chain snap (not that it happens often) = new engine time.

I don't think there's freewheeling either.
