retro fitting cruise control

Featured Replies

i have bought a 2006 2.0pd 140bhp sport,

i wanna fit cruise control in the car as i miss it,

i live in northern ireland and wanna know if anyone here fits it, or can some of your guys maybe talk me through doing it what parts to order,

i'll make a donation to the cause via paypal if someone can help

If you fancy a trip over to mainland uk then you could try ben at shark performance, or there is a company called hazzy dayz (google it) who specialise in audi/ vw retrofit solutions and their website says they visit Dublin every couple of months. If not then there is a company called carmediauk who provide a retrofit kit for you to install yourself for about £70, but you'll need someone locally with VCDS to recode the car to enable the system.

As you have VCDS your halfway there

I done this to my MK5 Golf a few months ago, easy to do and the retrofit kit costs about £60 - £70 and should come with instructions too

So all I need to know is in the instruction book?!

I would say the instructions are a bit vague on there own. but if you do the research before or have a copy of the workshop manual or a haynes manual you will get there.

If you don't need to fit the diagnostic wire, then all the retrofit would be to change the stalk.

I am an autospark by trade. So not slow about cars. I done this to my fabia Vrs and it was simple. But others say it is harder in the octavia ii

Not wanting to hijack the thread completely, but does anyone know how to change the stalk and roughly how much a replacement can be acquired for away from the dealers?

The cruise control on mine is starting to get tempramental, not always setting or resetting after braking or changing gear. I had it into the main stealers recently for a service and they reckoned it was the switch in the stalk going according to the diagnostics. They quoted (I think) about £121.00 to replace the whole stalk, which as it's probably a 20p switch that's going cheesed me off slightly.

Any (constructive ;)) suggestions gratefully received.
