audi a4

Featured Replies

I checked an audi a4 with my vcds and found a difference 20k between ecu and odometer. We took the car to an audi main dealer and they told us that they can not acess the ecu ,is this true .The owner needs offical proof that the car was clocked, where do we go from here.PS Rang audi Ireland they said they can not acess the ecu.We seem to be getting the runaround

The dealer VAS tool may not be able to do the mileage check that VCDS can. Have you considered that the difference in mileage could be due to an engine control unit or dash panel change? You could try a MOT history check through VOSAs web site, request the Audi service history or see if there is a company such as experian who could do a mileage check.

HPI check it, easiest way!

Audi are right, they cannot access things like mileage, and they can't check mileage like you can in VCDS.

I can correct this for you if required.

Audi can't access the ECU mileage and IIRC they can't find the ECU/Cluster serial numbers from the VIN.

However, they can find the VIN given a ECU or cluster serial number which means they should be able to tell you if one of these has been replaced. I know this because a colleage had a similar problem to yours and it was discovered that the cluster was replaced.
