The Range Rover Yeti Ascot seat thing

Featured Replies

Well when I saw this thread and then these pictures:

It reminded me of the Skoda Joyster. And that it has a Range Rover style rear seat to use at Ascot (emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ):

And well THAT got me thinking would the two outer seats (once removed) fit nicely next to each other ON the upper floor of the spare wheel looking backwards? Then you can also sit in the car and look out AND be shaded under the rear hatch! OR is the step down from the bumper too much? Or would the top of the seat actually be just high enough over the lip to be comfortable?

[Edit - had to replace the word s n i g g e r with a emoticon-0136-giggle.gif as it just showed up as s******. Oops]

This is what I had in mind with the Ascot seat:

ascotseat2.jpg

It shows a Yeti in section with the boot open and your existing rear seats taken out fo their normal slots and facing backwards on the false floor over the spare wheel. Crude drawing but hopefully explains it better!

Edit: drew a better picture!

i have wondered the same also'.....hopefully the new 7 seat yeti will have 2 rear facing seats!!..

I hope not as usually the occupants feet are in the crumple zone.

And there is something unnerving about following a car where the people are staring at you eye to eye! :D

Hardly a comfortable solution though is it? i mean you have basically extended the seat squab by some 10"+ with the bumper and boot lip.

Maybe I should add the point to what I did. This is not to be used when travelling, no seat belt, crumple zone etc. It was purely to park my son on the seat whilst getting out of his dirty rugby kit. I put a towel on the seat and over the bumper and it worked very well. His boots dangled nicely over the bumper keeping the inside of the car nice and clean. As a compromise it is something that I will be doing most Sundays through the season. I was just showing that it can work.

This is not the answer to a proper pull out seat and if one was an option then I would specify it.

Does the variable boot floor not pull out over the bumper like on the Superb? That would be a much neater solution IMO.

(I know Edmundblackadder's is not fitted with one)
