Just thought I'd dig this up from the distant past as I traded the Crossfire today - sort of 2 year road report. Overall the Crossfire proved more reliable than the Skoda, no where near as practical, a lot more fun with the roof down, did about the same to the gallon on daily commute but less on a run - 25mpg and 30mpg, it felt quicker and definetly handled better, normal service parts were pretty cheap. Overall I enjoyed it but it would be better with rack and peanut steering rather than recirculating ball from the 50's, but there is no such thing as a perfect car. I don't know whether the two nuggets who originally replied ever tried one or what they thought was so special about Skoda's over Chryslers or any other make, but I'd guess not.

Anyway as I said I've traded the Crossfire for a BMW 123D M Sport cos I need more doors now - so is that the worse trade ever again? I don't really care just thought I'd chuck in my two pennith worth.

The Crossfire is fine. It's simply a rebodied old Merc SLK, so basically like how an Octavia is a rebodied Golf.

The 123d is window-licking mental. Excellent engine. I'd love a _35d, in either 1, 3 or 5 guise. Good luck. Don't forget to amputate your rear passenger's legs if the driver is more than 5ft 6.

Yes. Neither your Skoda or the Bimmer look like a pooping greyhound. Having actually driven both fixed head and convertible versions, they're decent enough, but they look horrific! The SLK certainly looks much better.

The 123d is quick, especially for a 4-pot derv. Although as above, rear space isn't great.

Most 4-pots are pretty rapid once you pop a brace of turbos on them!

a 123d remapped is fecking mental!

Get it mapped NOW!!!!

Can't comment on the Crossfire but have been in an M sport 1 series. Rock hard seats and suspension, very uncomfortable to ride in. Probably great fun for the driver but not passenger friendly.

Every time I see a Crossfire (which is thankfully a rarity) I'm reminded of when Jeremy Clarkson commented on how they look like a dog taking a dump

I've never diven one nor would I ever want to as I'd never be able to cope with the looks. I guess thats makes me a 'nugget' then :giggle:
