Problems with Standard ICE

Featured Replies

Hi people

I have a Skoda Octavia Ambiente 2.0 with the standard Skoda Symphony and 6 CD changer ICE affair.

I have a problem with it however.

The A/F and C/D buttons are apparently designed to switch source between radio, cassette and CD Changer.

However, it does not "see" the CD Changer at all... so I cannot get it to play CD's

Is this a common problem?

please help!!

Couple of possibilities here...

1) No power in the CD Changer

2) Connection from the CD changer to the Headunit has become dislodged

3) Faulty headunit

Get your local dealer to look into this. It could be something simple.

If you're under warranty, then get the dealer to sort it out...

If not, probably easiest doing it yourself! When you put the cartridge into the CD changer, do you hear it "processing" the discs? Should be a series of whirrs. If you don't get that, it's probably a power issue...

Rob.

If you press one of the keys 1-6 a message 'no cd changer' will appear if there is no connection either power or via the bus connector.

If the magazine is missing/empty- no disc

no disc in the tray - cd X no disc

chk magazine- not ready for operation

no cd magazine- no magazine

If you're not getting any of these messages and you are still able to insert/remove magazines then it's probably the bus connector.

Yes, the CD Changer is whirring and processing disks as described. I'm tempted to think that either the Head Unit is poo, or the connection between them has become dislodged somehow. This leads me to two questions: -

1. What keys do I need to remove the head unit?

2. How does one remove the CD Changer from the boot?

Cheers for your help

I'd go along with a suspect connection from the changer to the headunit. Have you made sure the connections at the changer end are tight ? (It being the easier end to find connections for).

For the standard headunit, I believe there are "keys" that slot in and allow quick removal of the headunit. Personally, I ripped the headunit out the first weekend I had the car...

I'm gonna be pricing up a new head unit

overall this one is crap, might get it done on warranty (if it's a faulty one) and flog it to fund a DECENT HU
