Cambelt and water pump

Featured Replies

I can get a water pump from halfords at trade price for £34 with pulley, or £33 without. What is the pulley all about for an extra quid? Is this a good price? Am I right in saying the reason for changing the water pump is because the standard one has plastic impellor? How much should I be looking at for a cambelt?

Does anyone else recommend changing anything else at the same time?

Try www.vwspares.co.uk. Cambelt kits for the vrs are about 63quid+vat or 75quid+vat depending on whether it has a hydraulic damper or not. Main cost will be labour. Cambelts kits do not include the water pump. If you do change the water pump you will have to refill coolant. Hope this helps.
