Skoda Octavia II 2.0 Tdi, 103kw - troubles

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I am owner of Skoda Octavia II 2.0 Tdi 103kw chipped to 125kw.

Recently I was having a big troubles (actually still have some) with my skoda car. I would be happy for any provided tips and ideas.

I was coming back form Wales to England about 3 weeks ago. I was joining to motorway, gaining speed and suddently I heard som noise for few seconds, have seen plenty of white smoke behind myself, so I pulled over on safe place as soon as I could. I have called brake down services, the guys have said that turbocharger has gone. So I got car pulled back to Newbury.

I got changed turbo charger, oil filter, oil and air filter but car could not start and when it finally started there was some shaking on when in idle. Technicians said that to computer showed the following message - misfire injector on cylinder four - so I was advised to get new Injector and glow plug. These has been done just yesterday, but unfortunately I can not see any improvement by changing injector. My skoda is still pretty much smoky and shaky when in idle. So I do not know what shall I do with it right know. Service people said, the engine head needs to be opened and checked what has happened in there. Does it make any sence to carry on with repairs or is the best to get some second hand engine?

Any opinions and ideas please? Thank you very much in advance.

I would get them to have a look inside the engine first before i went down the route of replacement engine, you might have to get one anyway. Any good garage should be able to look inside the cylinders without taking the head off as they would have a thing like an endoscope, a camera on the end of a long bendy stick which they can drop into the hole left by removing an injector or glow plug, not sure if possible on these engines but definately an option.

White smoke sounds more like head gasket failure. I suggest you get an independent engineers report before spending any more cash. Also consider recovering the money you have spent for repairs that haven't worked (via small claims court)

Thanks for your opinions guys.

I was gonna get some second hand engine with around 45k driven for about 750GBP. But technicians have said, lets just change the injector as a next.

Many parts got changed and my skoda is still not right. I am really dissapointed. The car is booked for engine head off look on friday for about 100GBP. I was told, I will get plenty of info to help me to make decision whether to buy second hand engine or get some repairs on current one.

Added on 5/5/10 - Guys, finally I am changing engine. Got one with 45k on the clock for about 800GBP+380GBP labour and all the engine liquids. Any ideas if I need to contact DVLA regarding engine change? Log book shows engine code and engine number so I guess will need to do that, just wanna get some more opionions.

Guys, can someone please give some advices what to do in my case?? Please...

I got registered on 247spares.co.uk and requested engine for my skoda octavia, few days after some offers has come in and I have ordered 2.0TDI PD 103kw engine, engine code BKD with 2 days shipping time. I have paid for it on friday the 30th of April by straight payment to companies bank acount. Seller has shipped engine to me on wednesday the 5th of May (company says money has come in on wednesday morning) and I have received it on wednesday the 12th of May, which is not definitely 2 day shipping time. But when service people opened the package, there was not my ordered 2.0tdi bkd engine, but 1.9tdi 77kw.

I have called to the company where I got it from, they have said that mistake has happened and they do not know where my ordered 2.0tdi bkd engine has gone. So know I am in very bad situation - do not have engine and do not have money either. I keep calling to that company, but unfortunately it is extremely difficult as nobody is picking the phone up. I have sent tham a couple of emails and still do not have respond.

I have offered them to pay some extra money if they have the engine I need on the stock with lower millage comparing to the one I ordered, but they have told me they are not sure if they have any. Since that nobody got in touch with me from this company. I want just my money back and will look for engine I need somewhere else. Do you know guys is there any body to complain about it or go speed all of this up? I do not know really what to do....

Oh ****....what a mess. Sorry to hear that.

I think the only REAL opportunity you have is going the legal ways and contact a solicitor....which might not be cheap in case you are not insured against such things. What else can you do? May travel to where that company is located?

Did anybody find the reason why the engine blew?
