rear speakers in pickup?

Featured Replies

hi folks, i'm looking for inspiration, i have some JL audio 6x9 kicking about at home and i was thinking about chucking them in the back of my pickup somehow, behind the seats somewhere

it's easy enough to wire them up to the stereo but i was just wondering if anybody has tried this before, possibly build some mdf enclosures for them or something?

TheLoudestUK do some ready made 6x9 enclosures. HERE Only £25 the pair.

Scroll down and they even give you the dimensions, but for that price I wouldn't bother trying to build them myself.

Or, how about a pair of 12's cut into the rear bulk head behind the seats and build the box into the pick-up area. N!CE

yeah, they look ok, but it's a shame they will take up a lot of space.

i'll whip the seats out tomorrow and have a proper look... i know it's mental but i even thought about putting a mac mini in the glovebox too

Mmmm, I bet it's quite tight behind the seats. The only other thing to worry about is the seats muffling the top end sound of the speakers. Might be better installing some separates. Put the bass parts behind the seats and run the tweeters up by your ears.

that's a good idea actually^^ i do have the factory fit tweeters that came out of my lupo when i fitted the JL audio components in the front....

i might put the tweets in the wing mirror adjuster triangle panel thing :wonder:

i think the idea of fitting the 6x9s behind the seats is a good one, lets face it your gonna be using them more for the mid range punch rather than high end reproduction, especially as you have some separate tweaters you can fit up front. if you remove the useless plastic tray thats fitted behind the seats it actually give a fair amount of room, so much so that i managed to fit and 8" sub behine my passenger seat!

i made up an install for my pickup to sit behind my seats.

at the moment i only have my 10" sub fitted in it because im waiting for some more money to get some 6x9's and an amp.

The 6x9's will be ether side of the sub and the amp will be hidden behind the install.

Oh and ive also got to carpet it yet.

I was just about to try make a bad joke about macs, but will be more sensible and suggest a net top. They're small, low powered, cheap and I suspect a good few of them can be hackintoshed if you swing the mac way :)
