Picture Request: Double Din Stereo

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Anyone got a picture of a standard double din stereo in an Octy II dash?

Thanks,

Andrew

Depends which stereo you want a pic of? loads on Google images.

Hi there, here is a link to one of my posts (with a link to pictures) of a Pioneer AVIC-F310BT installed in an Octavia II. Lots of people on this site will rubbish anything other than a Columbus, but I think they are VERY wrong to discount the AVIC units (more on my reasons in a minute). The only slight negative is the adaptor panel that is required to fit a double din unit. However when time allows I intend to recify this by bonding the adaptor and dash trim together, filling the gap and spraying in one consistent silver colour to match the other trim panels. I think then there would be nothing left to criticise.......

OK, why an AVIC over Columbus (MFD3).......

1 It comes with Bluetooth as standard (bluetooth for a columbus is circa £250-£300 on top of the purchase price)

2 The Ipod lead was £20 (ipod connectivity costs a further £200 ish for columbus)

3 It uses full seven digit postcodes (columbus only goes to five)

4 It works with an iPhone

5 Like for like it is much cheaper

6 Don't listen to anyone who says they are slow. The new firmware means they now work brilliantly. I have phone connected and navi operational within 20 secs of turning on the ignition.

7 The mapping is up-to-date and cheap to keep current.

8 It gives speed camera warnings (audiable and visual). Columbus does not unless you create your own disk and then it's only visual.

9 You can get a free iPhone app to plan your journey and bluetooth it to the unit prior to setting off.

Oh, and heres the link.......
