Oil Top-Up

Featured Replies

I’m after purchasing top-up oil for my Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP Classic Petrol with registration 54.

I've asked two Skoda dealerships and they've suggested two different types of oil:-

First Response:-

"The oil you require for you Fabia is Semi-Synthetic 10w-40 oil. We sell Shell Helix in 1Ltr bottles at a price of £5.96+VAT, so it is £7.00inc VAT."

Second Response:-

"The oil we use is castrol magnatec professional b4 5w-40 which ive been told is only available from main dealers "

I find the user manual too complicated to follow as it lists all the Fabia models.

Can anyone make it clearer which one I should be using? I purchased by car from the second response dealer so I'm guessing its already got this particular oil in it "Castrol Magnatec ...".

Thanks David

According to opie oils and eurocarparts the correct oil should be 5w30. VW spec 504(long drain oil). Best thing to do is check whether the oils you mentioned meet VW504 and if they do that is fine as this is the latest spec.

This is just my opinion. Personally i'd avoid 10w40.
